hi, everyone. everyone seems to be giving their opinion of the show. i may as well, too. even though it was joni's life on the screen, i couldn't help feeling that it was MINE, too. that either means i am very self-centered, or else that a good part of my life has been tangled up in the soundtrack that she has created for us to live by. perhaps (probably) that was not her intention, but that's the way it has played out for me.
i was thrilled by the show--the sight of unseen footage (at least unseen by me), and i was thrilled to see her get the pbs treatment. i also came away with a sense of melancholy, a sense that something has passed....something has ended. it's so hard not to be selfish, to want more.... i'm trying to agree with those of you have said that she's possibly not finished. i'd love to think that she'll get the urge to communicate with us again. wouldn't it be nice? i, too, loved the footage of her skating.... but those pictures were probably taken in cahoots with the hejira album art, don't you think? perhaps they just put those later pictures with the earlier song, "river." the absolute highlight, to me, was the few seconds of her playing "a case of you" on her lap dulcmer. bless her heart. such beauty. such truth. such vulnerability. such a wonder. that 's my two cents worth. :-) it sounds like the show made a whole bunch of us happy. peace to all.
