is the interview with Susan Lacy. The way I read it, she's been executive producer of the American Masters series, hiring filmmakers and so on, for years. She took the helm of Joni's project herself. I can only guess that this project was too important to delegate. :) Susan's one of us. (Are you lurking, Ms. Lacy? "You done good, kid.") The PBS timeline for 1979 says, correctly: "1979 MINGUS [was] released to positive response but no airplay from either jazz or pop/rock stations." I didn't know that the 1983 band had a name. Hmmm. Also: What's the most expensive album to date? The answer surprised me. I guess 'cause she was piling up billable hours in a studio. Lama Off to work on the 15 year old Volvo. With more than a quarter-million miles, it easily passes the emissions test. The engine has never been rebuilt.
