http://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/database/mitchell_j_interview.html

is the interview with Susan Lacy. The way I read it, she's been executive
producer of the American Masters series, hiring filmmakers and so on, for
years. She took the helm of Joni's project herself. I can only guess that
this project was too important to delegate. :) Susan's one of us. (Are
you lurking, Ms. Lacy? "You done good, kid.")

The PBS timeline for 1979 says, correctly:

"1979 MINGUS [was] released to positive response but no airplay from either
jazz or pop/rock stations."

I didn't know that the 1983 band had a name. Hmmm.

Also: What's the most expensive album to date? The answer surprised me. I
guess 'cause she was piling up billable hours in a studio.

Off to work on the 15 year old Volvo. With more than a quarter-million
miles, it easily passes the emissions test. The engine has never been
rebuilt.
