As far as kids records :) there is a really fun record based on a children's
book called "The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast." It was done
by Roger Glover, David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes (formerly of Deep Purple)
and Ray Fenwick and Eddie Harden (formerly of The Spencer Davis Group) among
others.

It's a delightful story and the drawings are a fantastical, colorful treat.

While Peter and the Wolf may be considered "overplayed" by many it IS a
great way to introduce children to the specific sounds of instruments so
they can pick them out of more complex pieces in the future. I remember
games with my parents, (who can pick out the clarinet/trumpet/oboe?)

The main thing was... that we spent time with our parents, music was a bond
and it meant that we got to spend the next 1/2 hour + sitting curled up
beside their warm bodies talking quietly about what we were hearing, or
dancing joyfully across the room, spinning and twirling.

The Nutcracker is also a good choice, as is Peer Gynt.

Cassy
