When i was in America this summer ( how many posts can i possibly start in this manner??) i had the absolute pleasure of seeing a young lady named Sam Shaber perform. she was one of those "young women with a guitar" singers. her set went on for about three hours, and by the end of the show i had discovered that she has amazing song writing prowess- she performed all originals and every one of them was captiviating. she has a website samshaber.com. well, at the end of her show i went over to tell her how impressed i was (that song ElDorado is *still* stuck in my mind, and it's now two months later!). and i signed on for her e-mail mailing list. here's something interesting she wrote in the latest one: "And in the writing arena, I have two more articles out right now which might be of interest to any musicians out there. The first is a chapter on lyrics for the new Acoustic Guitar Guidebook, "Songwriting and the Guitar" (Stringletter Publishing). I'm betting it's available at your local biggest-bookstore-ever in the periodical section, although I'm not sure. All I know is that my copy arrived in the mail with my chapter inside it right next to other chapters by David Crosby, Patty Larkin, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, and more. That was a good trip to the mailbox to say the least..." Anyone know anything about it? i'd like to see. GARRET
