Hi all--
Long-time list-er, first time writer. There was discussion a few weeks back
regarding Joni on the radio, or in the store. I have heard Joni in more
grocery stores than anywhere else. First I heard "Edith and the Kingpin,"
and then a year or two later "The Circle Game," both in grocery stores. I
also heard "Edith" in a mall. The reason I thought of this is because I just
heard "Conversation" while shopping in a department store this weekend.
Unfortunately, my companion did not share my enthusiasm when I heard Joni's
voice while rummaging through the bargain bin.
I am 20, so I wasn't a radio-listener when radio last paid attention to Joni.
As a result, I've had few chances to hear her on the air. A week ago was
the first time--I heard "Sometimes I'm Happy" on an NPR Jazz show. At first
I just assumed it was another version of the song--I had the volume down, as
I was studying at the time--but when I found out it was Joni, I became very
excited. As usual, I could find no one in sight to share my delight. So now
I share it with you. :)
