When I was a senior in high school in 1974 and about a year into my Joni insanity (which grows each day I'm happy to say) we had a class project that we would make a videotape of what America meant to us or some such thing. Not being able to think of anything original and feeling very self-conscious, I recited the lyrics to "Banquet." (Makes perfect sense, what America means to me from a Canadian's point of view ...) Afterwards, another classmate came up and said, "oh, I wish you'd told me you were going to do that. I'd have accompanied you on piano." I'm afraid I never would have been brave enough to sing it, but it was nice that someone knew of it. I can only hope that tape has been burned somewhere. Sheesh! You know I'd only share these kinds of things with you guys! Lindsay
