Wally, I�m really pleased to hear that you share my enjoyment and
appreciation of Jacques Tati. His is a gentle, magical and timeless
comedy. Watching Monsieur Hulot, you can see clearly where Mr Bean has
come from! 

You mentioned not seeing much Australian cinema. That's unfortunate
because we actually have a pretty rich cinematic history going right
back to the early days. A couple of Australian films I would strongly
recommend are �Picnic at Hanging Rock� (I think I remember Steve
Dulson praising this one on the jmdl about a year ago), �The Year My
Voice Broke� and �Cosi�. The last of these concerns the (not
altogether successful) attempt by inmates of an asylum to mount a
production of Mozart�s opera �Cosi fan tutte�. It�s a real �out of
left field� film so I hope it won�t put you off your love of opera,
Wally.
