Hey You Guyyyyyys (remember "The Electric Company"?),
I thought I'd put it out there that my understanding of Scientology
involves getting in touch/tune with negative messages in our heads that
keep us feeling 'less than' and compel us (the 'royal us'; no need to
personalize here!) to sabotage our lives from reaching full potential. As
someone in recovery (yep - I bit the bullet, or depending on your
perspective, my life had 'shit the bed'), I can identify with the
sabotage thing, but for different reasons. In any event, perhaps the line
about 'monitoring your brain' could be a more metaphorical approach to
what I'm describing, and therefore keeping Mr. Cohen in the running.
Admittedly, though, I have always had a vision of someone hooked into
some sort of brainwave monitoring device whenever I hear the song.
