Oooh, Bob, this sounds like a particularly good one! Thanks to you and the
contributors once again.

I have been experiencing mail delays with packages sent out and being sent
to me for about the past 4 weeks. Packages even sent priority mail, for
example, have been taking a week to reach their destination just on the west
coast. The other day my postal carrier returned a package I tried to send
and told me that anything mailed in a package is being checked/x-rayed for
bombs and that packages sent directly with regular postage stamps on them
are usually being returned to the sender who is being asked to take them
directly to the post office for mailing. Judging from my experience in the
past month with delays, these heightened security measures began before the
latest conflict in the Middle East, but we might expect even more vigilance
from the postal service with the current events there.

Kakki, who has a package for Bob but has to wait to go to the post office on
Monday ;-)
