I wish I knew who all of you people are, wouldn't some of you like to tell a far off German Joni admirer, 52, female, who you are and what it is that makes you feel about Joni the way you do? I got to know Joni from the first album that was published, played for me by my old school friend Cindy Sadlowski from Grand Rapids (I wish I knew where she is now..) and then I lost touch and rediscovered Joni on Hejira which I still love deeply today. I remember reading a critic's very stupid article about Joni telling the same story all over again, meeting a man and being disappointed..guess that guy wished that the girls would stick to one man, loving him or not, all their life long.. I am a teacher, and here in Germany Joni is not well known to the kids. I always look for a chance to introduce her to them, like now I'm teaching prose and drama about 'fallen women' in the 18th century and later and I get the girls to write essays on that subject and make them interprete 'Magdalena Launderies'. I also introduce her works on the poems by Yeats and Blake about 'Taming the tiger'..although I am not an English teacher..And when we study Doeblin, Berlin Alexanderplatz - a very deep novel about Berlin in the late Twenties which deals with Hiob on a referential level - I play Sire of Sorrow for them. I always find excuses... I wish I knew all you - or rather - some of you people who do such great things as Jonifests...would somebody please tell me what that means? Thanks to Ashara and Bob Mueller for welcoming me on the list..LOve from Karin
