Hi Kakki,
Remember me! ;->
Thanks so much for the fine review of Tom Rush's concert last night at
McCabe's. Oh! How I envy you folks who can witness, up close, all the
wonderful talent so close to home. Also, thanks for the URL for the Boston
station, and the info about Tom's concert which was to be aired on WUMB
today; what a great radio station. I've added it to my radio list, and have
been listening to it all morning - a program called "Acoustic Morning."
I'm really enjoying it. Thanks again for the info.
Three things:
1) I've been so incredibly busy, I haven't read the list in months. I made
a decision (New Year's Resolution, actually) to go back to college and
finally get my degree. I've taken three general education courses this
year that, unfortunately, were not required way back when I first started
college. I am five courses away from finally getting my college degree in
Journalism.
I probably won't make more money at my job, but I really wanted to complete
what I started so long ago. It's so surreal - the students all look so much
younger than I remember - just like my daughter and her friends. Could it
be that I'm getting old? In my Public Speaking class I sit next to a guy
who used to bully my son on the school bus (when they were both about 8 or 9
year's old). At first it was really strange because I didn't care much for
this little bully who I had not seen in almost 7 years. He is now a tall,
cute (I feel like Mrs. Robinson saying this), thoughtful and intelligent
young man, who has helped me a bit with my intense dislike of speaking
publicly.
The same college campus that I attended almost 26 years ago is now such a
foreign place to me in so many ways. Attending classes; preparing for
classes; reading and trying to retain what I've read; is somehow a bit
harder, and much more stressful than I remember. However, it is SO worth
it! I just cannot let my daughter beat me to commencement. She's a junior
now. Actually, it was my daughter's idea that I go back to school. It was
a good decision for me, but leaves almost no time to languish on the
computer. Darn!
2) I have a new e-mail address. I was actually able to keep "TheFishPond"
part of it. I finally went cable. What a difference! Now I can buy
things even faster on eBay!
3) Kenny :~( He unfailingly answered all of my emails to the list when I
first became a member almost 4 years ago. He was especially adept at my
"what type of 'techno gadget'" should I buy questions. He was a wonderful
ambassador for this list. I met him in Pittsburgh in 1988 at Julie Webb's.
He was very quite, but also very sweet. During the sing-a-longs, he closed
his eyes and sang the words with such emotion. There was no doubt that he
deeply loved Joni's music. I was very saddened and surprised to read about
his passing. I am also happy that his smiling face now graces the JMDL
page, complete with lyrics that so fit his spirit. So long Kenny...
I have spent very little time online in the last 10 months - but just had to
try out my new, super speedy, Road Runner cable and caught your post and the
news about Kenny.
Enough for now,
Bev Wolfe
