Which reminded me of a quote I've had on my wall at work for the last 10
years. Working in IT, I sometimes lose sight of the big picture, even
though I've worked for "environmental" agencies! This helps keep things in
perspective:
"Increasingly we associate ourselves with our tools and our possessions, our
science and our dreams. But we are inescapably still part of the natural
world of plants and animals, of soils and water, a world which preceded us
by billions of years and which will outlast our science and our species.
National parks are the great cathedrals, galleries and museums of this
natural world, as worthy of preservation as any edifice or achievement of
our culture and civilisation." Andy Dennis - 1984 (NZ
environmentalist/ecologist)
