I know John McLean, indeed, Les, and have played with him, too. I agree, he's
fantastic. A very personal guitar "voice," extremely musical.
Another phenomenal Chicago guitarist is David Onderdonk, who has played and
recorded with me for more than 30 years. A brilliant composer, a personal
voice, as musical as music gets. Check out his duo album with percussionist
Mark Walker "Loose Contact" on the Southport label. On some of the tunes he
plays an eight string guitar, simultaneously covering the bass parts. He also
plays great piano.
