Hi, friends. It's nice to be able to catch up on my e-mails. I love reading
everything that you all have to say on so many things close to my heart.
That said, I noticed that Anne mentioned Ellen McIlwaine. I'm not sure if
I've inquired about her here at the JMDL but I would really love to see her
sometime. I know she had played a few festivals, large and small, home (or
Canada) and abroad (Spain) but I have yet to experience her playing live. I
think she is absolutely fantastic. If anyone hears about an Ellen show and
it's not TOO far from the east coast NYC area, I'll jump on it.
I also wanted to jump on the fave guitarist thread because Warren Haynes
(Gov't Mule/Allman Bros.) is one of my favorites. I thought someone would
have mentioned him. I have seen him play with bands from Mule to Phil and
Friends but the best was catching him opening for Jorma at Town Hall in NYC.
He did a solo set and it was sublime. He gets such a rich, stunning tone
from that instrument. WOW! Joni is, of course, my hero!
                                Peace,
                        Janene
