It happens on both "sides" and to say it is worse or more evil on one side than on the other is a bit of a stretch. It's one thing to say "John did this and that. It's a matter of public record and I don't agree with what he did and don't think it is good for our country." That's fine. But then to add the tag, "He's a moron" or "beady-eyed" or "frat boy" or whatever... what's the point of that and how does it add to civil, open discussion? Yes, this is the joni mitchell list and therefore no surprise that it leans pretty far to the left most of the time. But i would like to think that given the obvious quality of people on this list, a reality that is revealed in every digest i receive, we could rise above the name-calling (and worse), even when discussing politics. don
