what albums have you got?
The first one & 'Flying Cowboys'.
It still bothers me that I often can't understand the words. And the
whole 'hep-cat' persona she sometimes adopts still seems affected to
me. But now I'm remembering hearing that first record and liking a
lot of the songs on it. And 'Flying Cowboys' is wonderfully produced
(and yes I have been known to diss 'Steely Dan' from time to time
too - don't go there people - I can be stubborn & perverse & will turn
the opposite direction if someone tries too hard to persuade me in
that way) and has some beautiful music on it.
But I think I can at last forgive Ms. Jones for disparaging remarks
that I heard she once made about Joni's forays into jazz. Blood under
the bridge, as they say. Besides. She writes a damn good letter! ;-)
