Colin asked, > Is he > worried that a correct counting will mean he has lost? This innocent question raises a more sinister one: Which count is the "correct" one? If the machine counts differ from the hand counts, and they surely will, then which is correct? Are some of the lawsuits going to settle it, or do we have to abide by those three annoying and all powerful Democratic Floridians (County Judge Charles Burton, the commission's chairman, who urged caution and was outvoted; Theresa LePore, the county elections supervisor who designed the butterfly ballot with large type to accomodate seniors; and Carol Roberts, a county commissioner who met President Clinton in Palm Beach last year while she was contemplating a run for Congress). I haven't heard this discussed by our press. Has anyone? Jim
