Greetings from Roma!
A few days ago I was pleased to get a copy
of the self -produced CD "Introducing Joe Slomp".
First there's a f*@#ing great jazzy NYC-night version of "Guinnevere"
(imagine CPR and a trumpet revisiting it the way they did with "Triad" -
Croz: I'm sure you'll like this version), then Joni's "A Case of You",
then a beautiful rendition of "All the Way Home", a song Springsteen
wrote for Southside Johnny, then the Doobies' "Takin It To The Streets"
and other beautiful gems.
Well-balanced between his roots (the singer-songwriters of the West Coast)
and his natural jazz inclination, this is a collection of some of the songs
Joe has been singing through the years presented here in elegant dresses.
As Joe wrote on the booklet:
"Some might feel disoriented by the different styles in this selection of
songs, but my feeling is that when the music is good, there is no sense in
putting
boundaries to it."
Visit his site, listen to clips of each song and enjoy the album!
