I too am slightly jealous of Kerry's RAV 4, except that every second 4-wheel
drive you see over here now is a RAV 4 - they're so popular, I've gone off
them a little. My car of choice (and hopefully will be my next purchase) is
an Isuzu MU - kind of a cross between a RAV 4 and sports utility. Smallish
(only 3 door) but still pretty spacious. Not that I NEED a 4-wheel drive
necessarily, but I just love them!

My car history is:

1. A red 1966 Hillman Superminx (with fins and white racing stripes!) that
was one month younger than me. A great car that I wish I could have
afforded to keep - bench seats, column change, huge steering wheel.
Unfortunately I was in my first job and couldn't afford the maintenance on
such an old (and run-down) car.

2. A 1976? babby-poo brown Datsun Sunny. A horrible car that my sister
gave me for nothing when she moved cities (so I can't complain) but it was
only a 1200 CC engine, and it sounded like a mouse farting.

3. A red 1980 Mitsubishi Lancer that was OK, but again, just what I could
afford at the time. Had one fairly major accident in it, and never felt
comfortable driving it after that (getting hit by an articulated cattle
truck on a motorway does that for some reason).

4. My current car - a white 1990 Hyundai Excel. A boring 4-door sedan that
is incredibly reliable and cheap to run. I hate it. Don't know what
possessed me to buy the ugly little thing, except that it had only one
previous owner (an 87-year-old man) whose longest trip ever was 13 kms.
Only 25,000 km on the clock after 6 years.
