I don't disagree with most of what you say but I would say for people in rural areas a 
car
is a necessity rathe rthan a convenience. You are right they are expensive. Hwoeevr,
without one I would not be able to see friends and it would be very difficult and
expensive just to leave this town and then it would only be possible to go to another
town. I wouldn't be able to go to the vet, or the friends who live even more rural 
than I.

I sometimes think life would be better if we all went back to foot, horses and 
carriages.
