i've never liked either of those albums much, especially 'sky'. her later
stuff is much more interesting and less cheesily produced (IMHO). as for
'hush', i really love it, but as always, jane is so different each time out
that it's hard to give a nonpartisan review, so to speak. very rich choral
arrangements - a virtual jane chorus singing traditional songs. some of them
are really lush and beautiful. some fans aren't jumping up & down because
they want original compositions and more instruments (70% jane vox, 20%
piano, 10% strings or other touches on this one). my only problem with it is
that if you listen to it in its entirety, by the 7th or 8th song it can feel
a little monotonous. but song by song it's delightful. completely delicious
to listen to this disc on headphones.
