hi everyone! just wanted to mention that a friend of
mine TOTALLY surprised me for my birthday with a
wonderful gift: from e-bay, he got me a copy of the
May 17, 1969 issue of Rolling Stone, with a BIG
picture of joni's face on the cover. and her hand.
it's not the most flattering picture, for sure...
and the funny part is that the headline is "the swan
song of folk music."

the article on her is pretty funny also...rambling talk
about "miss mitchell" and some movie she was commissioned
to write (on "anything i want") and how isn't it
great that she "writes AND sings her own songs" and
some stuff about david crosby. it's right next to an
article on judy collins.

is this article something everyone has already read?
is it on the website(s)? (i don't have internet
access, or rarely.) anyway, i was touched and excited
by this sweet gift. i've never owned any "memorabilia"
before...nor have i ever gone to the e-bay site
(hey, maybe my friend bought this from one of you all!?).

anyway, i'd be happy to transcribe this for the list,
or for someone(s) off list, if anyone is interested.
