<<i feel sorry for the other bassplayers on the album. hearing them back to back with jaco makes them sound so ordinary......... i think jaco would make virtually any other bassplayer sound flat - he makes sounds that bass players arent supposed to. actually, i suppose there are other bassplayers that play like him, i just havent heard them.>> I like "JJL", Ron...or BRE, for "Best Record Ever" ! ;~) If you dig Jaco here, you have to run don't walk to get DJRD...more great Jaco and Joni, although not much evidence of either on "Tenth World"! ;~) And I don't necessarily feel *sorry* for the other bassplayers on Hejira...the acoustic bass on "Blue Motel Room" is exquisite, I think. I know that Jaco didn't play the acoustic on this track, but did he play acoustic bass much? A question for the Jacophiles. I love the fadeout for Refuge Of The Roads...turn it up and hear just how low Jaco's bass can go! The only player I've ever heard who reminded me of Jaco was Morris Pert who played for Brand X.
