I'll stick by my belief that she was referencing the correct "Love of
Money" phrase from the book of Proverbs in The Bible. Your Mom was stating
the common misquote, much like people who say "I could care less" instead
of "I COULDN'T care less".
Anyway, no big deal...The O'Jay's used "money is the root of all evil" in
their classic "For The Love of Money", so if it's good enough for Gamble &
Huff, it's good enough for me!
