<<I have seen Julia Fordham's name mentioned on the list once or twice before.
What type of music does she write/sing, etc.>>

I would describe Julia Fordham as acoustic-based (she plays guitar)
folk-pop-jazz, kind of like Court & Sparkish Joni-- so I love it! The JM
influence is quite strong I would say and she has a beautiful sweet-husky
voice. She has a Best-of CD that is a good sampler. But I saw her recently at
a club in NYC and she did at least 6-8 brand new songs that were complete
knockouts. I think her next CD is going to be quite good and will hopefully
allow her to reach a larger audience here in the States (she's British) as she
also has a new major label contract for U.S. She's overlooked!
