I know, I know ... the rest of you are pondering Ayn Rand's oeuvre and here I am chiming in with Us Magazine. Oh, well, maybe one day I'll return to literary ponderings. In the Dec. 18-25 Stories of the Year issue (i.e., it's the holidays and we'll just rehash all the crap we put in earlier issues) there is an article on Linda Ronstadt by Jonathan Schwartz, I'm assuming the Jonathan Schwartz who is the former? current? disc jockey who used to be on WNEW in New York (having not lived on the East Coast for 20 years, I don't remember whether WNEW changed its format.) Whatever. The first question: JS: Have you heard Joni Mitchell's album of standards, Both Sides Now, like the ones you made with [arranger] Nelson Riddle? LR: I didn't know she made one. I heard a standard she sang on a Herbie Hancock album. JS: "The Man I Love"? LR: Yes. It killed me. Well, back to wracking my brain for gift ideas. I hope all of you have a beautiful holiday season filled to the rafters with Joni. Peace and love, Lindsay
