Hi Kate,
How lucky Emil is- first to have a mother like you & again to meet Joni! I
was not able to make the Mendel due to financial constraints at the time, but
I would have loved to go & bring my daughter Lindsey, who adores Joni as
well.Lindsey is neurologically impaired,(autism) not physically disabled, but
Joni's music seems to reach her like noone else. But,as I've mentioned before,
I am a huge Neil Young fan, and so is Lindsey.Next to Joni, Neil is her
favorite artist, so Emil & her have alot in common."After the Gold Rush"
appears to be her favorite, but she also likes his newer stuff like "Silver &
Gold".I'd suggest starting him with ATGR as well as "Harvest", then adding
"Harvest Moon", "Tonights the Night","Zuma", "Live Rust"and "Everybody Knows
this is Nowhere", to get him started. On "Zuma" is a song called "Stupid Girl",
that Neil wrote about his good friend Joni Mitchell--it isn't meant to be an
insult ,but advice to a friend to "start living again, forget about
remembering" after a love she can't forget(James Taylor?). As far as your
question about Neil's sons, from what I've read they don't live with him;one
of their mothers is the actress Carrie Snodgras, who I know is devoted to her
son & takes care of him herself. I can't remember who the other mother is, or
how severely disabled the child is. I do know the son he had by Carrie
Snodgras is wheelchair-bound, and has alot of serious medical problems.Thank
God your precious angel is able to get around so well.Hope both of you have a
wonderful& blessed Christmas!
                                                   Peace,
                                                   Megan :~)
