Hi,
My name is Dave Binder and I'm from Ottawa, Canada - land of the snow and
cold (but then, Joni would know about that wouldn't she? :o) )

I'm a professional guitrist who now only works part-time - ya just can't
make a decent living here full time, but I do still get out quite a bit.
Over the years I've specialized in town playing with singer/'songwriters who
perform primarily original material, and have recorded a number of CDs with
some of them. I've also done my stint as a session guitarist at local
recording studios, doing jingles, getting hired as part of the backup band
for singers who want to record but don't have a band,, that kind of thing.
I've also been quite active in the theatrical community, having performed,
either live or through recording, on a number of soundtracks and soundscapes
for local theatre productions - again almost always original works.

My main passion, musically, is jazz, but I do love singer/songwriters as
long as they have something to say. Amongst the singer/sonwriters that I am
particularly attached to are: Richard Thompson, Lyle Lovett, Randy Newman,
Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Shawn Colvin, Sara McLachlan, Tracy Chapman and, of
course, Joni Mitchell.

I have already managed to find someone who can provide me with CD Tree #1,
so I've been getting busy on the site already.

I have a wide range of live performances by various people and I can send
lists to people who are interested. I am also a member of a new web site
called the TapeList Repository, where people post their material for trade,
and then get in touch with each other to work out trades through the site.
It is pretty new (about 3 months old), so the music available is not yet
very diverse, but we are trying to get more people to join. There is an
automated joining process that comes from being invited to join by an
existing member, so if this sounds like it interests you, send me an email
and I'll invite you to join. All types of music are welcomed (in fact
desired), so if you do any amount of trading, joining this and helping it
grow will benefit not only yourself, but many other people who share a
similar passion for music.

So, a big howdy to all of you - anyone who feels like writing please feel
free to do so, and in particular if you want to check out the TapeList
Repository.

Cheers!
Dave
