Bob all your talk of cdbaby.com reminds me of a singer named Sam Shaber, i
have mentioned her on teh list before. and somehow Ashara took it on herself
to go and see Sam play in Boston and i'm sure she can back me up when i say
that Sam is an artist definitely to be heard. i believe also that she was/is
a member of Indirgrrl. thanks to Kate Bennett for that tidbit!
i had the good fortune to catch Sam play at Borders in Hyannis last summer. i
couldnt afford her cd at the time and it's great to find that it's possible to
find her music on the web. live she outshines even her fantastic cds. now, i
know that a fan will almost always say that but it is true. she is charming
and friendly, and talented.
her songs are great, and she counts Joni among her lyric writing heroes.
so maybe one day you'll put my recommendation to the test:-)
i consider Eldorado (written for her parents i do believe, and i can't tell
you how totally amazing this song is) , Rain and Sunshine, and Rooftop among
her most amazing work. these songs will just stay with you!
Sams music is available through mp3.com also, at the following URL
and also from folkweb.com
and if i'm not mistaken also from cdfreedom.com. so along with recommending
Sam Shaber to you Bob and to everyone else, im just reminding the gang of
those web sites. Now, i'll just wait for Sam to cover JOni.....i'm thinking
Cactus Tree or, for some reason, Sunny Sunday (as if)
GARRET
