<< The 'of-the-moment, 'non-nostalgic' experience of listening to HOSL today, in 2001, is proof that HOSL is among the small handful, if not Joni's 'ultimate' timeless masterpiece...Rob >> Great post, Rob. In the book "Rock - 100 Essential CD's", they pick HOSL as the ONE Joni to own as well. The sampled Burundi drums in Jungleline were off-putting yet very addictive for me. I remember I'd never heard anything like that before, and Joni was a pioneer in terms of introducing African sounds into rock music. HOSL is one of the few Joni's I almost HAVE to listen to in it's entirety as opposed to being 'shuffled' in the CD player. Bob NP: Doobies, "Without You"
