Yes Merk54, I understand the +ACI-Over the month of June+ACI- reference, though I
did get that one. Years ago when Leslie, now in London, and I were at art
college, I remember asking him about +ACI-the thumb and the satchel or the
rented Rolls Royce+ACI-. He's much brighter than I am and so explained the fact
that she was talking about hitch-hiking. Of course. I'll never forget that
day (coz I felt so stooopid) and since then I've always sought to delve
deeper into what Joni says. I'd previously just taken a lot of what lyrics
are at face value - not only by Joni but others too. I was too wrapped up in
the music then I suppose. Lyrics were something else. Saging as opposed to
aging with Joni helps. For me it's always the music first. The poetry is
something to savour afterwards. Some is obvious and some not so and that's
what makes it lasting. Always finding a new meaning or interpretation which
is what the JMDL does so well. Just the other day someone on the Line, Jim
of course, talking about +ACI-A diamond for her throat+ACI-. I'd never really
thought about it like that before .... Justice - Just Ice. Throat, not neck.
The implications. Imagery with words. For me, my fave +ACI-poetry+ACI- by Joni is
the song DJRD. I adore it. So-o-o-o many creative images from the eagle and
the snake juxtaposed. Awesome. And, there's that driving rhythm/beat
building alongside Jaco's punching and punctuated bass. Out on the vast and
subtle plains of mystery a split tongue spirit talks noble as a nickel chief
striking up an old juke box. Who said Shakespeare said it all? From a twin
of spirit.
