Thanks Emily, I really like what you wrote, "an artist who specializes in
joy" and "joyfulness is also a source of, and can be a form for, art. but
it's true that we tend to value art that is tragic as "deeper."
I welcome anyone to post their favorite "joy" songs. Getting more specific
now, in other words not just artist who write about happy things (silly,
banal or good, but your favorite joy song, one that inspires &/or teaches
you something about love or life. Both musically & lyrically...a song that
tells you life is good & beautiful & everything is gonna be all right...(in
writing this I just thought of "I Can See Clearly Now" and "Don't Worry"
(Bob Marley)oh & I love Ziggy's song "New Love" (I think its called).
Oh Yes, thanks Victor for reminding me that Stevie Wonder really is the
master of joy songs!!!!
