As I was trying to sleep, this fey/fay/ofay problem was still racing in my mind. This theory came to mind in the form of the following strange paragraph. Strange I say, because, to me, the first four lines mimic the meter of the song itself. (The first line is crammed into the space of "W.C. Handy".) Try singing this to the tune of "Furry Sings the Blues", after the line, "We're only welcome for our drink and smoke." [[ Joooni in my memory you say/ "I'm rich and I'm fay."/ and I think that's what the lyric sheet might say, but/ I get this strooong impression that you *meant* to say/ ********* ********* "W.C. Handy, I'm rich and ofay." ]] Kinda scary. Lama
