Chris,

I would agree with most of the recommendations - especially Aqualung, Benefit, and 
Songs from the Wood.  I would consider all of these must haves for any JT fan.  
Following these, I would place Thick as a Brick.  If you are not familiar with any of 
these, you are in for a treat.
