Notice the NJC, here to denote the fact that Enya and Joni have nothing
whatsoever to do with one another, and so comparing them in order to
make Enya look shitty (Rick!) isn't fair and simply not an option.

Perhaps those of you who are bashing Enya would do well to check out the
Celtic musical train of thought she comes from by investigating Clannad.
When Enya first arrived in a solo package, the music was considered more
on the 'ambient' and 'cutting edge' side of things (sort of like the way,
unfortunately, the Cocteau Twins have been marketed here in the
states...pretty, ethereal...little emphasis on lyrics). Though difficult
for some to discern, perhaps Enya's material is better digested as merely
a musical experience rather than a total artistic package (like the other
artist I will NOT mention who we are NOT comparing her to...). In short,
we are spoiled by loving an artist who makes great music AMONGST other
things...I simply don't believe that is what Enya is all about and so to
dismiss her as shit sells her a bit short. It's pleasant and pretty, but
not moody and evocative - maybe using those words will help you
understand the differentiation I'm trying to make. And by the way, I do
not listen to Enya (not much anyway), but not for the same reasons that I
don't go for Yanni and Tesh.

Check out some Clannad, and then we'll talk Enya.

By the way, Jonatha's in-store on Tuesday in Boston's Borders was
AWESOME. I took some cool pictures (one with us together) and she played
"Digging", "Linger", "Red Dress" and "I'll Take it From Here" (at my
request!!). She'll be back in New England in May, and No, Ingrid will not
be on the tour...she is finishing her own CD.
