I agree with Artheo(like that name) about subtitiles. They distract me. I miss so much of what is going on the screen. Also subtitles are not usaully what is actually said either but a cut back version-like the subtitles for the deaf and blind. I am not sure I agree about reading not having as much impact. Somes books have made me breath hard, and react physically with a jolt. I remmeber the firsat book I evr read when i was about 6-The Mountain Of Adventure. it thrilled me. In The Circus of Adventure, when the King died, I could actually hear the bells! I still read a lot(have just finished all the Harry Potter books-blimey children certainly seem to like girsly bits in their books nowadays!) As for film leaving their mark, i agree. there are some scenes oin various films I wish I had never seen. I was taken as a very young child, about 8, to see The Breen Berets. I have never forgotten it and have not seen it since.. I would not have taken a child to see this. I saw The Music Lovers at 10 and various executions etc as a child, tho any film with sexual content or subject was forbidden!(they obviously weren't expectin Glenda to flash her tits in The Music Lovers) -- bw colin [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.geocities.com/tantra_apso/index.html
