I first heard Thankyou in exactly the same film, and loved it - I think the
scene it was in helped ;o) - but I was already familiar with Here With Me,
from the Tv series Roswell. It took me a while to stop playing just those
two tracks, and actually listen to the whole thing, and I was the same as
you at first, the rest just didn't grab me. But after a few more times,
it's really grown on me, and I really like it all now. So stick with it a
while longer, then get back to me!
Incidentally Thankyou is now the No. 1 song in NZ, and she was nominated for
a Brit award too (for best British Female Solo Artist) but lost to Sonique.
