No Joni content, unfortunately, but I can't help but post the latest reason why Courtney Love continues to endear herself to me. And you thought Joni Mitchell and other artists like Aimee Mann had problems with the music industry! Taken from the news section of Hole's Web site: February 28, 2001 Hell Hath No Fury "I could end up being the music industry's worst nightmare: a smart gal with a fat bank account who is unafraid to go down in flames fighting for a principle," Courtney says on the front page of Wednesday's Los Angeles Times. Love will enter Los Angeles County Superior Court today for a hearing on the suit against Universal, which one lawyer says could "nail the lid shut on the coffin of the standard long-term recording contract" and radically change the nature of a business riddled with corruption and fraudulent practices. After refusing to settle in December, Courtney is prepared to take her case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. "There is no reason why Courtney can't win this case," says an observer. "If this goes to trial, it will be a jury that decides the facts. Not the industry." As Love readies for a fight to the finish, one industry analyst summed up the proceedings. "It boils down to a woman versus one of the largest corporations in the world. I'm putting my money on the woman." Personally, I can't wait to see how this case develops. The aforementioned Los Angeles Times article can be found on their site at the following URL: [http://www.latimes.com/business/updates/lat_love010228.htm] It's well worth a read, and it gives a lot of background on the fuss Courtney's about to make.
