i had to drive across eastern north carolina this week for some meetings and 
was stunned at the pear trees which are in full bloom right now.  this time 
of year, the grass is brown still as it's not yet germinated.  and the pine 
trees are dark green.  and the cotton is white against the red soil.  and at 
one point, i could see these loaded pear trees with flowers of pure ivory 
against a back drop of deep green pine with a carpet of bright white cotton 
and red dirt and manilla grass and it looked like a big ansel adams portrait, 
only not really cause it was real.  and everything looked still.
