Who hasn't posted what they figured was a thought provoking Joni observation to this
fine list, only to see it ignored at worst, or merely "unthreaded" at best? Everyone,
right? If you're like me it smarts a bit. Makes me want to go whimpering to Ashara
for hug therapy. I'm so sensitive. ;-)

I got this new-fangled digital cable TV set-up recently...I get like 400 channels,
man. Like 15 premium movie channels free for the first month. I like movies...I've
been watching them like there's no tomorrow. Half-decent schlock that I'd never go
see at the cinema...hrmpf.

Point coming, I swear. Point is, when I heard about that movie "Down to You" coming
out, that teenage demographic vehicle for Freddy Prinze's actor son, I mused here that
the title might have been inspired by Joni's song...there was the sound of one hand
clapping here on the jmdl. I imagined you all scoffing at me and the very idea.
Well, I saw Doen to You last night and there was a scene where the girl lead was
showing the Prinze character some paintings of album covers that she had painted
herself into in place of the artist. On top of the stack: her face in place of Joni's
on the cover of Clouds! See!? I'm not nuts! Well, maybe I am, but you can't prove
it by this!

Then I watched "200 Cigarettes" the movie. Pretty lame all in all, but still bearable
if you're into pop culture. There was a Joni mention in a bar scene in that one!
Weirder still, the guy who is the lead in "200 Cigs" is the same actor in another
movie featuring JC...can't recall the actor's name or the movie, but in this one his
character owns a record store and catches two boys shoplifting. What had they swiped?
A joni disc! He chastises them saying something like you're dj-ing with Joni
Mitchell? And the kids say something like, oh, just cause we're young we can't have
taste? He lets them keep the disc. Anyone know the movie offhand? I'll look it up
if you don't believe me.

-Julius, who will unabashedly take self-esteem boosts whereever he may find them. :-P
