Harper Lou,

Full time musician? yes. Happy? YES! Making ends meet? not yet...(but I am
strictly an originals act, I dont' do much cover stuff which is often easier
to find work doing)

Fortunately I had some savings & a supportive husband which allowed me to
leave my increasingly demanding job (with pay increases falling far behind
of what they expected of me, as well as appreciation until I gave notice,
then of course I became a godess...you don't know whatchagottilitsgone ism
at its most obvious...)In hindsight, it was a blessing because it would have
been more difficult to leave a job where the money was hard to give up.

Kakki said it all. You have what it takes, just think of what you can do
given the time for promotion that you will have now. A part time job & doing
music with the rest of your time & energy is perfect. This is the chance you
have been waiting for, eh?

Making a living doing music is a lot of hard work. But its YOURS & if its
calling you to do it you will be miserable not fufilling that gift. The so
called "music" business is one of the worst businesses to be in but you can
avoid much of that by staying indie...

As far as playing for that dinner of doctors who really aren't listening,
well you may have to bite the bullet on that one if its paying you--as I am
sure you know, the biggest paying gigs dont' always have the highest
listening factor but hey, your are playing & getting paid to do so. And
maybe they did hear & appreciate you.

Sometimes you can find a music related job to help pay the bills--ie Victor
who just left a job that he hated & just found a new one which is related to
music & last we heard is very happy!

Get rid of the starving musician statement. You create your life based on
your perceptions, and what you think & what you say is part of this.

It takes time to build any business. Seems like you already have a good
start. Good luck!!
