I watched about 45 minutes of this - until the Riverdance dancers came on. Now, any show that features a duet of Elvis and Emmylou can't be all bad, but overall I was depressed by the over-production. I guess if you're shelling out big bucks to go to the Kennedy Center, you expect million-dollar sets and whiz-bang lighting. I'd have enjoyed it more if it were just the band (particularly Donal Lunney and Sharon Shannon) sitting in a pub somewhere bashing out tunes, and the "stars" popped in to sing a song or two. Is it just me, or are the "specials" put on by PBS these days becoming indistinguishable from the lowest-common-denominator crap put on by the broadcast networks? PBS seems to be dumbing down for the masses.
