You can sign into the chatroom without registering as long
as you choose a username that some other registered or
guest user hasn't already used. 

I used "ChrisMarshallUK" (and left all the other fields blank,
which is probably how guest users are supposed to work) and it 
worked just fine. 

I suggest that everyone just uses their full name like this,
rather than a pseudonym, so we all know who we're talking to.
Using your full name also statistically lessens the chance that 
you'll clash with an existing registered user, and if you do,
just jam a number, country or state on the end!
