This is true Hell, there are talks to get more tickets. the concert that
sold out is actually for the slane festival headlined by U2, and also
featrung Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Coldplay, adnJJ72.
sounds like great lineup. the problem is that U2 alone could sell something
to the effect of 150, 000 or 200,000 tickets in this country. and Slane
*only* holds 80,000.
the rapid sell out was inevitable, and it doesn't bother me as much as Bob
Dylans sell out in the space of, like, a minute last year (of course that
was a very small venue).
when it gets closer to the event the touts will sell teh tickets for 5 or 6
times the value, and they'll get it. a second date, even a U2 solo date,
would help prevent this to an extent.
the residents at slane, however, olny allow one concert per year. and if
they allow a second this year just to suit the size of crowd the band
attracts, i think they'll be asked every year to allow a second show. so,
in a way i kind of hope they don't have a second night at slane. perhaps
they should try for Lansdowne Road again.
anyway, tonight i am going to Steve Poltz, which should be fun. he was the
opeing act for Jewel last time i saw her, and he was great then.
