Update: Elton, Heart, Martin For Brian Wilson Tribute

Updating an earlier story, Elton John, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart,
and Beatles producer Sir George Martin will all take part in TNT's "All Star
Tribute To Brian Wilson," set for March 29 at New York's Radio City Music
Hall.

An email message sent to Radio City's Backstage Access members late this
afternoon (March 2) revealed that the former Beach Boys leader will also
perform a short set at the event. And, not unlike many of the shows on
Wilson's 2000 tour, the show will include a performance of the Beach
Boys' landmark "Pet Sounds" album in its entirety accompanied by the Radio
City Music Hall Orchestra. As was the case earlier today, a TNT spokesperson
declined comment.

A limited number of tickets will be sold beginning tomorrow (March 3)
via the Internet to Backstage Access members, and then to American Express
Gold cardholders beginning March 8. Remaining tickets are scheduled to go on
sale to the public March 12 via Ticketmaster.

The evening will be taped for broadcast on the cable outlet, probably
sometime in June or during the summer. An official announcement from the
network confirming the event and participants is expected sometime next
week.

Another artist who has been rumored as taking part is Melissa Etheridge,
although there has been no confirmation of her participation. The
Barenaked Ladies, whose song "Brian Wilson" was last year covered by its
namesake, were initially thought to be part of the line-up, but will be on
tour in
the U.K. at the time of the taping.

The event, first revealed here last December, will cap a season of
accolades for Wilson and his former group. Wilson was inducted into the
Songwriters Hall Of Fame last June, while the Beach Boys were recently among
those honored with a Lifetime Achievement award at the 43rd annual Grammy
Awards. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the band, Capitol Records
will
release a total of 16 of the band's albums on eight discs in March and
April.

In addition, the band's late drummer, Brian's brother Dennis, who
drowned in 1983, will be remembered in a new book, "Dumb Angel: The Life &
Music Of Dennis Wilson." The Adam Webb-penned book, which includes a forward
by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, will be published June 15 in the U.S. by Creation
Books.

TNT's inaugurated its series of tributes in 1998 with "Burt Bacharach:
One Amazing Night," and has since staged events honoring Johnny Cash, Bob
Marley, and Joni Mitchell.
