This reminds me of one of my French faux pas. While
learning the language in Junior High, and on exchange
with a French family one summer ... I was asked if I'd
like seconds after a particularly, but typically
elaborate, French dinner. To which I replied:
"Non merci, je suis plain."
Which I took to mean "No thanks, I'm full." What I'd
REALLY said was:
"No thanks, I'm pregnant."
