<<I attended that concert in '79 at Tanglewood. I thought it was a fine show, but
would be very interested to hear it again and see how it compares to the "finished"
concert recording from that tour that became "Shadows and Light." >>
Cool, CC!
I assumed since there are lots of Joni fans in the area that a few of you haad been
there. This recording is a pretty good one, it has two edits. Amelia starts up in
mid-song, and Shadows & Light cuts out.
But it does include Big Yellow Taxi and Just Like This Train which were the opening
numbers, and Jaco's solo, which for me is one of the highlights of the tour, with Jaco
going off into space and always using Hendrix's "Third Stone From The Sun" to bring
himself back to earth.
It also includes "The Last Time I Saw Richard" (on piano) which was one of the
traditional encore numbers she did on the tour. The audience of course goes nuts when
she starts singing.
On a related note, what an outstanding group of musicians on this tour! I started
watching the video again night before last, and the awe and joy that Alias, Pastorius,
Metheny, Brecker have as they totally immerse themselves in Joni's music is a true
marvel!
