I wonder myself. Like they really need the money!
$25k is a fair chunk to a working person like me, but
it's not much to most celebrities.

Is it meant to be a grant? Are they supposed to use
it for a specific purpose (there's usually some kind
of catch to this, isnt' there?) Let's see; Joni could
use it to buy art supplies to paint pictures which
Peter Gabriel could buy; Issey Miyake could use it to
buy lovely materials for new gowns, which Joni could
buy; Peter Gabriel would use it for... what, exactly?
And so on...

I suppose I'm being cynical, but don't you wonder why
they chose these particular people? i'm not even
going to argue who's a genius and who's not; to me
that's not the issue. But I wonder what their
criteria were in determining who'd be honoured? As a
Canadian, I can safely say that it would be *very*
Canadian to honour other Canadians - but that's not
the case here - the honorees are a pretty
international bunch. I wonder if Harbourfront (which
gets gov't grants) is worried about running out of $
and thought this one up to make some more cash (spend
a whole bunch, but earn back even more - in theory?)

I dunno - I find it kind of weird, to tell the truth.
