At the risk of being accused of blowing my own horn and just in case
anyone might be interested, Les has kindly put the article I wrote
about Joni for the fanzine that never materialized into the JMDL
article database. I expanded it a bit from it's original form (those
of you who read the original are all rolling your eyes in disbelief as
you read this, I'm sure.) It doesn't contain anything
earth-shattering or amazingly original but it does discuss all of
Joni's records in chronological order and attempts to show how she
evolved artistically from STAS up through BSN. Since I'm not a
musician, I couldn't be too precise or technical. But I've always
wanted to write something like this and I put my heart & head into it
and thanks to Les it isn't going to just take up space on our hard
drive (sit in a loft up in some room somewhere?) It's mostly just my
thoughts about each album and how each one built on what had come
before it. I also made some attempt to fit the records into Joni's
personal life where it seemed appropriate to do so. The piece is
called 'Joni Mitchell: A Work in Progress (a fan's perspective)'
(Sheesh, can't he even be brief with the title, fercrissake?!)

Thanks again, Les, for doing me the honor!
