 I think the song was introduced in concerts as being about Hollywood high
 society.     I'm not sure how the Airplane folks fitted into that scenario.
 Anyway I like the idea of it being Jack Nicholson and Grace Kelly.

The Jefferson Airplane connection makes sense because Crosby and Nash were 
close with the Airplane and the Dead, and recording Crosby's solo album as 
well as the Paul Kantner's Blows Against the Empire about the same time with 
many of the same people.
 Jack Casady played on both albums, of course, and Grace Slick certainly was 
a well-known party legend of the era.
 How did Grace Jones get mentioned? I didn't think she had even been invented 
yet.
